Oatmeal Baby Cereal
Part of my morning routine is to wake up early so I can spend time with Hanky Pank before he takes his first nap and I get ready to go to work. I’m pretty plain when it comes to breakfast and usually stick to oatmeal. If I’m feeling fancy, I might make a smoothie.
Hanky Pank started showing interest in food by reaching for whatever I was eating. Finally one morning I offered him a teeny tiny bite of my oatmeal. The second it reached his mouth he started fake coughing! This continued each morning, he would reach for my oatmeal but then fake cough when I offered him a bite. Luckily he eventually decided to trust me and took a bite. Now we’re both oatmeal breakfast eaters.
Oatmeal has been an easy grain to incorporate into Hanky Pank’s diet as it’s already a part of mine. The oatmeal I prefer is fairly course so initially I would grind it into a powder prior to cooking to create a smoother consistency. In addition, oatmeal is easy to combine with other fruit and vegetable purees.
