Pea Baby Food Puree
Quick and easy pea baby food puree with a sweet taste babies love. Excellent source of vitamin C and a good source of fiber, folate, and iron.
Every time I go to make pea baby food for Hanky Pank I always picture a cartoon cricket saying, “Pea soup!” Without fail.
But I could not remember what cartoon it was from. Luckily, I have access to the World Wide Web at my fingertips. I not only found out it was from Rescuer’s Down Under, but was even able to watch the scene. If you’d like, you can watch it here. It almost made me want to sit down and watch the whole movie. But I had big cooking plans for the day, starting with making this very simple pea baby food.
Peas are great. They’re one of the easiest baby puree to make. Right up there with Bananas and Avocados, and Prunes. In addition, they’re an excellent source of vitamin C and a good source of fiber, folate, and iron. They’re really quite the unassuming food.
When making pea baby food, I grab a bag of frozen peas. Let’s be real, I’m not going to spend the time to shell pea pods. I also don’t thaw them prior to steaming. Did I mention pea baby food is super easy to make?
The peas should remain bright green while steaming. If the color starts to dull, they’re starting to overcook. Just remove from heat and run under cold water to stop the cooking process. Then puree for vibrant green baby food.
