Yogurt Melts
These Yogurt Melts are a healthy and sweet treat for babies and toddlers without added sugar!
Hanky Pank loves Yogurt Melts. They were one of the first finger foods we gave him and he’s never gotten tired of him. (He’s never really gotten tired of any snack, but he especially loves these sweet little treats!)
Luckily they’re super easy to make at home and have no added sugar. And the flavor combinations are endless. I went with Strawberry, Mango, and Blueberry Yogurt Melts for this post. I include Banana with each fruit to thicken up my mixture. But feel free to replace 1/2 Banana with 1/2 cup Greek Yogurt if desired.
When it comes to piping the melts, I’ve found a turkey baster works great! I know, it sounds odd, but it really does work well. But a more common way to pipe is to spoon the mixture into a plastic bag and cut off the very tip. Alternatively, if you’re not interested if piping at all, you can just line a baking sheet with parchment paper, spread the mixture, and break it apart once it’s frozen.
While these do begin to melt once taken out of the freezer, they rarely last long enough to make a mess!

Hi there,
Just wondering if I can use frozen bananas? Thanks.
Hi Jane! Yes, you can definitely use frozen bananas (I use frozen blueberries). Enjoy!
What if I don’t have a piping bag?
Hi Megan! If you don’t have a piping bag, you can spoon the mixture into a plastic bag and cut off the very tip. If the mixture is runny, place in freezer for 10 to 20 minutes. Hope that helps!
When it is frozen, you said that last 3 days in fridge. They dont defrost or melt in the fridge?
Hi Marinelis! You’re right, they would melt in the fridge. It should just say “Store for 3 months in freezer”. I’ve updated the recipe. Thank you!
Love love love!!! Do you think I can use homemade whole milk yogurt?
Hi Deehana! I definitely think you could use whole milk yogurt. I’ve never tried whole milk yogurt but I’m guessing it will make the mixture even creamier. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!
Is there a dairy free substitute I can use for the yogurt?
Hi Amy! Yes, you can definitely use a diary-free yogurt. You’d just need to pick one that’s on the thicker side with low to no added sugar. I’d start by trying a coconut yogurt. In addition, you could add more banana to help make the mixture thicker. Hope that helps and let me know if you find something that works!
I’m not sure what I did wrong but these were a fail for me. Even after being in the freezer overnight the dots just melted as I peeled them off. I saved the mixture for a smoothie but they never hardened enough to use as yogurt drops.
Hi Danielle! I’m sorry to hear that. I found banana helps thicken up the mixture so it can hold its shape. Regardless, glad to hear you were still able to put the mixture to good use.
Do these have to stay in the freezer until eaten or can they be stored in the diaper bag on a busy day out of the house for snacks?
Hi Megan! They need to stay in the freezer until eaten; otherwise, they’ll melt. Definitely don’t recommend for a diaper bag. Unfortunately, I could never figure out how to make melts that could keep their shape at room temperature.
