Apple, Almond & Cinnamon Oatmeal
This Apple, Almond & Cinnamon Oatmeal is a delicious and nutritious start to your little’s day!
Oatmeal has been a staple in Hanky Pank’s diet from day one. He started with Oatmeal Baby Cereal, quickly moved to Apple & Cinnamon Oatmeal Puree, and ended up with this Apple, Almond & Cinnamon Oatmeal. He’s a big boy now!
While I’m adamant that Hanky Pank should experience a variety of foods as part of his diet, I don’t mind keeping his breakfast consistent. This oatmeal is delicious so Hanky Pank is happy and it’s nutritious so I’m happy. And let’s be real for a moment, we’re not exactly early birds so a consistent routine really helps our morning get off on the right foot.
This puree is chunky, which makes it ideal for babies who have moved onto finger foods. For ground almond, I simply grind almonds in a (clean) coffee grinder and then sift them with a mesh stainer to remove any remaining chucks (and eat them as a mini-snack). If you don’t have almonds on hand or simply don’t want to include them, this recipes works without them.
Allergy Warning: Tree nuts, such as Almonds, are considered a high allergen food. If you’re concerned about allergies, talk to your pediatrician. Once you’re comfortable introducing tree nuts, just watch for symptoms of a food allergy. Refer to Food Allergy Reactions for more information.
